.Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. As an apprentice you'll:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain job-specific skills
  • earn a wage
  • study towards a related qualification (usually one day a week)

As an employer you'll:

  • receive advice on the right apprenticeships for your business
  • get help with recruiting apprenticeship candidates for your business
  • receive support whether you are a Levy payer or not
  • receive support to use the online Apprenticeship Service

Apprenticeships take 1 to 4 years to complete depending on their level.

An apprenticeship has an equivalent education level and can be:

  • Level 2 – equivalent to 5 GCSE passes
  • Level 3 – equivalent to 2 A level passes
  • Higher – can lead to NVQ Level 4 and above including degree and postgraduate

FE - Further Education Courses

Colleges and providers are able to offer you a choice of academic qualification to prepare you for higher education, or vocational and professional courses that will give you the skills and qualifications needed to enter and succeed in your chosen career. Courses include:

  • Sector Based Work Academies (SBWA) enabling you to do short intensive courses leading to employment
  • Part-time Study – brush up on your English and maths or learn about a new vocation
  • Online or Blended Learning – learning at a time and pace that works around you

HE - Higher Education / University Level Courses

If you are looking to continue your studies there a range a range of full and part time higher education courses on offer. From Diplomas to Degrees and above we are able to offer advice regarding the right route way for you, whether it be a vocational or academic pathway.

Traineeships

A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become 'work ready'.

Designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 who don’t yet have the appropriate skills or experience, traineeships provide the essential work preparation training, English, maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.
